eSafety Label

The eSafety Label project (http://www.esafetylabel.eu) is set up by the European Schoolnet, a European – wide accreditation and support service, for schools. It was launched with the goal of helping schools respond to the different challenges faced through the integration of online technologies. The eSafety Label project is targeted to reach schools, equipping them with resources to develop eSafety confidence, when online.

The main purposes for setting up this initiative was to address the global increase in every country, of young people carrying with them devices linking them to social network sites. These devices help them build their own online communities and create and share content. In this day and age, restricting the use of technology in order to protect young people is not only an impractical solution, but also counterproductive to their formal education and overall development (http://besmartonline.org.mt).
