Afterwards, they watched a short clip ‘Safer internet Day 2021’, where they understood that we shouldn’t always believe what we read. Following this video, they listened to the story ‘Ir-rigal’ and discussed if they agree or not with Mark’s attitude. They ended this activity by colouring one of the characters. On the poster the children were asked to write a slogan.|

|St Nicholas College, Secondary School, Dingli||Melanie Cini||Safer Internet activities at St Nicholas College Dingli Secondary, organised by Ms Melanie Cini. As part of the Safer Internet Day activities PSCD teachers delivered lessons related to Internet Safety as part of the curriculum held in school during PSCD Lessons, Ms Melanie Cini and her students of St. Nicholas College, Secondary School, Dingli, teamed up with their European Twinning partners of the eTwinning project Think, Act, Inspire! to work on various topics within the PSCD Curriculum. A special assembly was held on the day. As part of an the eTwinning project: Think, Act, Inspire! these past few weeks, Ms Melanie Cini’s students worked on various aspects of internet safety in class, online and on Twinspace. In mixed national teams, students created tips and slogans which were then transformed into posters available to be printed and shared in schools. 2. Power point presentation (years 1 – 3): Buddy the Dog’s Internet Safety Story (The children listen to a story and learn a chant related to cyber safety. The presentation also includes various video clips and a quiz.)
To play the quiz, pupils stand up. If the answer is ‘yes’ they have to put both their hands up, if the answer is ‘no’ they have to squat.

Later the children had to draw how they can follow the three rules at home. It was a simple yet effective lesson for our class!

We discussed this thoroughly. Children gave their own examples. I read the list of information presented in the lesson plan that has been provided and children had to tell me whether that kind of info was personal or private. – We closed the session with a quiz on Quizziz. The teacher created a set of questions related to the lesson. The students answers the questions individually and then we looked at them together in class.

Then I showed the children a video of ‘Red and Murphy’ where Murphy becomes overwhelmed with the amount of devices he is trying to keep up with. After watching the video we discuss what happened and if they every feel like Murphy when they are using a lot of devices. We then meditate and breath just like Red told Murphy to do.|

2. Internet Safety Tips – children then followed a PowerPoint Presentation with very useful tips to consider while surfing the internet

Traditional Tales – Internet Safety Discussion – children then had the opportunity to practise what they learnt in the previous step by discussing different scenarios in which characters from traditional tales (such as Little Red Riding Hood, Snow White, Cinderella and the Three Little Pigs) encountered a problem while using the internet. Children were asked what each character should do in such situation.
4. Kahoot quiz about Internet safety – children participated in a short quiz about internet safety using their school tablet
5. Design an internet safety slogan – finally, children designed a slogan about internet safety. Children were presented with 3 slogans and they had to choose one and design a poster for it. The slogans presented were the following:
